Relieve Your IBS Pain and Discomfort

Living with IBS is difficult: pain, discomfort, cramping, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, the list of symptoms goes on and on. But it's not just the physical symptoms that makes it so difficult to live with - many people with IBS have to change their lifestyles as a way of managing the condition.

This can include restricting when you leave the house, fear of getting an "attack", embarrassment, and even anxiety and depression.

IBS is notoriously difficult to treat with medication; most people have tried different medications with little or no relief. This makes it frustrating for both patients AND doctors.

It's also common to make lifestyle changes, including dietary restrictions, with no relief. This can lead many to give up and accept that they'll just have to live with it.

But there is hope! Many IBS sufferers, including those that have tried everything else, find tremendous relief from clinical hypnosis.

(Okay, I know that some of you will be tempted to stop reading at this point. You may think of hypnosis as hokey or hinky or mind-control. If so, please scroll back up to the top and download a short sample so you can see for yourself what it's all about.)

Clinical hypnosis (or hypnotherapy) is a clinically-proven effective method for treating IBS, particularly those who have chronic or severe IBS. In fact, studies show an astounding 80% of patients show improvement in their symptoms. And these improvements commonly last for more than 2 years.

As a hypnotherapist, I have had success treating both children and adults with IBS using the North Carolina Protocol. This is a clinical hypnosis treatment approach that has been demonstrated to have a substantial impact on the following symptoms of IBS:
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Bloating
  • Bowel Functioning Abnormalities
  • Somatization
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

Clinical hypnosis is particularly effective with severe cases of IBS and those patients who have not experienced relief from medication.

I follow the North Carolina Protocol. Developed by the University of North Carolina Medical School, this is the one treatment protocol that has been rigorously tested and found the most effective at reducing or eliminating symptoms.

The Protocol consists of seven 45 - 50 minute sessions. The first session is an assessment, allowing me to collect in-depth information about your specific condition and history. After this we begin hypnosis, generally meeting each week in the beginning. You'll also practice self-hypnosis at home between sessions and keep a detailed log of your symptoms.

During the course of your treatment, I'll be collaborating with your gastroenterologist to make sure he or she is aware of your progress.
